The Wyrmwood Magnetic Game Master Screen Official Case
about 7 years ago – Fri, Feb 17, 2017 at 07:27:52 PM

Hello everyone!

As we enter the final week of the campaign, we have some very big news!

From the beginning, we knew a major challenge with this project was finding a way to store and transport the Magnetic Game Master Screen. We've been working to find an answer, but the difficulty was that, well, we don't make cases. So, we went ahead found someone who did: Battle Foam.

A bit of background about the fine folks at Battle Foam:

Battle Foam is the leader in miniature storage and transportation. With over 30 different bag styles and more than 1000 foam trays, the options are unlimited. Battle Foam offers the industry's strongest and longest warranty. All Battle Foam trays have a lifetime warranty against separation from their bottoms. The entire Battle Foam bag line has a 2 year iron clad warranty protecting the gamer from defects and other issues. All Battle Foam products are made of the best possible materials guaranteeing a strong and rugged product designed to last for years. With all Battle Foam products you get the option to personalize your storage solution by sending in custom traces, using the exclusive "Custom Tray Creator" app, or selecting from hundreds of pre designed foam trays. The industry leaders choose Battle Foam because we provide the best possible products to each and every customer. With names such as Privateer Press, Wyrd Miniatures, and Steamforged Games trusting in Battle Foam, shouldn't you? Battle Foam, "Protecting Your Army".

The P.A.C.K. 720's rugged, Kevlar exterior protects a hard plastic interior built for strength and durability. This bag was designed for airport travel and meets all FAA regulations for carry on luggage.

Note: Please check your airlines carry on guidelines before travel.

As you can see, your Screen will be comfortably nestled in custom foam inserts.

Of course, the case isn't a necessity for everyone - many of you are going to set this up at home, and the party will mostly come to you. But if you're often hosting games at different locations, running them at conventions, or just like being mobile... this is for you!

Pricing & Shipping

The case is the Battle Foam P.A.C.K. 720, specially customized for the Wyrmwood GM Screen. The retail price for the case is $204.99, however, we'll be able to offer our backers a reduced rate of $185. The shipping for domestic backers will be $30.

To add the case to your pledge, simply add the above amount to your total, as with any other add-ons in the campaign.

We're in the process of finalizing the details, so we don't have international shipping data worked out quite yet. As soon as we know, you'll know!

Thank you for your support and we look forward to sharing more information with you soon. Let's make the last week a big one - keep pledging, sharing and spreading the word!

Thank you all.

Hi everyone! We've got a fun collaboration to tell you about today, as well as some stunning materials you can choose for your Acquisitions Inc inlays. Without further ado, let's get to it!

Dusk City Outlaws: A Roleplaying Game of Capers, Heists and Other Thievery

From veteran roleplaying game creator Rodney Thompson comes Dusk City Outlaws!

A fast playing, streamlined role playing game, Dusk City Outlaws will have your players come together as as part of a crew, hired for jobs and heists. They'll execute their schemes in a sprawling fantasy city that hosts eight separate criminal cartels.

If you back at the Agent of the Black Council level, you'll get the PDFs, the box set, and several awesome add-ons, as well as this handsome set:

The matching Wyrmwood Tabletop Dice Tray and Dice Vault pair Wenge and Curly Maple for a striking contrast that will stand out on any table. Of course, it won't draw the wrong kind of attention. You're trying to pull off a caper, remember?

Acquisitions Inc Inlay Options

In our first example, we featured turquoise inlay to show off the Acquisitions logo - but that was only the beginning. Should you opt for an Acquisitions Inc inlay, you'll be able to choose from many beautiful natural materials. Coupled with your wood choice, there are enough options for everyone to find their perfect combination.

All of these, with the exception of Abalone (noted below), are available at the same price of $100 per inlay.

Upcoming Stretch Goal Woods Revealed! Configuration Corner #1
about 7 years ago – Thu, Feb 09, 2017 at 02:55:30 PM

Greetings everyone!

Coming Soon: New Woods!

After reviewing your requests, we've got some plans for additional woods, to be unlocked as the campaign progresses. First in line, at $300,000 total funding...

Hickory

Hero Vault in Hickory

Hickory is used in tool handles and for smoking meat. Tough to work, sharp tools are a must, lest your cuts be left stringy and ragged. The creamy sapwood can provide pleasing contrast and visual interest occasionally alongside the darker heartwood. Andrew Jackson was known as Old Hickory by some of his contemporaries due to his tough nature, however this is somewhat of misnomer: young Hickory is actually tougher and more elastic than the old heartwood of large mature Hickory trees.

Peruvian Walnut

Sentinel Deck Box in Peruvian Walnut

Another variety of walnut, sometimes called tropical walnut. It is darker and more consistent in color than American Black Walnut. It works very easily and takes an oil finish nicely. Interestingly, walnut leaves contain a compound that acts as a mild herbicide.

More woods to come!

Configuration Corner, Vol 1

Some of you have requested seeing the Screen set up in alternate configurations, and we love the idea. As you know, crucial elements of the Wyrmwood Magnetic Game Master Screen are modularity and customization; there are hundreds of ways to configure it. You'll choose your combination of components, how they're connected and even how you orient the Panels, all according to your specific needs. Since your game is going to be unique, why should you rely on a one-size-fits-all approach to running it?

If you aren't sure what configuration you'd like, hopefully you can draw some inspiration from these samples, shown here with our Bolivian Rosewood Screen. On the other hand, if there's a setup you'd really like to see, let us know in the comments or via direct message!

Configuration #1:

This minimalist setup was suggested to us by a couple at PAX South. It includes only three components and just one panel! They run their game primarily using a tablet, so a traditional screen isn't as necessary in their case. Still, they found the Rotational Screen's narrative possibilities exciting. By flanking it with a Chest of Holding and Two-Way Dice Tower, they'll have all the options they need. A modern, non-traditional approach to the game, combined with old-world craftsmanship and feel.

Configuration #2:

A request by backer Tiom

Of course, the minimalist approach isn't for everyone! Here, the classic tri-fold layout is broken up by a Two-Way Tower and Chest of Holding, each placed at the corners.

Tiom requested seeing this loadout in both possible orientations, and he's also considering opting for an additional Chest of Holding over a Two-Way Tower. With all that storage for dice and minis, it looks like some epic battles are in this group's future - here's hoping his party is ready for it!

Configuration #3:

Here's one more option we came up with. It keeps the GM tools front and center, letting the Chest of Holding and Two Way Dice Tower take center stage. While we often show these components flanked by Panels, there's no reason they can't be next to one another, located wherever feels most comfortable to you. For those of you considering multiple Chests for even more storage, this may be an attractive approach, allowing you to expand and keep the storage in one area.

We hope you enjoyed this look at some possible ways to combine Game Master Screen components to fit your needs. Let us know if you've got a loadout you'd like to share, and you might see it in a future update!

Chest of Holding, New Component Previews and Answers to your Questions!
about 7 years ago – Wed, Feb 08, 2017 at 04:59:47 PM

Hey everyone!

Here we are, a week into the campaign, and it's been quite a ride! You've blasted by most of our stretch goals, and the Chest of Holding is now UNLOCKED! You can find the updated pricing on the main page, and we're working to get the pledge calculator updated shortly!

Chest of Holding

Chest of Holding: Coming To Your Table Soon!
Chest of Holding: Coming To Your Table Soon!

The Chest of Holding was placed as a high value stretch goal because it's easily the most labor intensive part of the campaign - the Chest itself is quite large and complex, and what's more, it includes Mini Dice Trays as drawers, each of these being individual pieces of work. This is a serious piece of hardware. We weren't sure how many would be interested in the storage utility, but it's proven to be very popular.

As a result we've decided to offer the Chest of Holding differently than we originally planned: purchasing the Mini Dice Tray drawers is now optional. Why? Well, some backers have indicated they'd love to use it this way, simply storing items in the "cubbies" during a session. And not having to include the cost of four (!) dice trays with every Chest of Holding order means we can significantly reduce the cost.

Of course, there's nothing stopping you from getting it fully loaded with drawers from the outset - or even adding them later on! They'll be permanently available on our website after the campaign, with all other components of the Screen, thanks to your support. So we really feel this is the most backer-friendly way to offer it in the campaign.

Q&A, New Components

You've had a lot of great ideas and feedback, and we're happy to take cues from you on what you'd like to see. For some answers to questions we've gotten in the comments section, here's a thrilling video!

But wait, there's more! Here's Doug, detailing a few prototypes we have of possible upcoming parts of the Screen. Check this one out, and let us know what you think of the various options in the comments here!

Post Campaign

Some of the most common questions we've been getting are concerned with what's going to happen once the campaign is over. We address these in the video above, but to summarize:

1) There will be a pledge manager (most likely BackerKit) where you will be invited to make your final selections. You can also add to your pledge there. In other words, your order won't need to be 100% finalized until BackerKit.

2) BackerKit will also be open for pre-orders of the Screen. These will have a later fulfillment date than the Kickstarter pledges, but there will be a bit of time for those that missed the campaign to jump on.

3) The survey will be open for a period not less than 2 weeks, and possibly as long as 1-2 months. This should be ample time for everyone to get their selections made. We'll also have full photography of all the available components in all available woods (including those unlocked during the campaign).

4) All components of the Wyrmwood Magnetic Game Master Screen will be available on our website on a permanent basis. Of course, all orders taken through the site will ship after all backers have received their orders.

On The Road Again (Part 2)

As we mentioned in the last update, we were at PAX South in San Antonio over the past weekend. It was our third time there, and it was a great time, as always! But even better, we got to show the GM Screen in its final form! The response was great, and we even had some backers stop by specifically to check it out.

We're going to be at a more local convention this weekend, as well - Captain Con! It will be held at the Crowne Plaza Warwick. For more information, check the site here: http://captaincon.com/

And yes, we will have the Screen there to view! If you're going to be there, please stop by! You'll be able to find us in the main hall, near the demo area.

Much More To Come

We hope you're excited to be first in line for the Wyrmwood Magnetic Game Master Screen. We can't wait to get it to you, and we can't wait to keep making it better - new components and accessories will be in development, and of course, as our backers, you'll hear about them first.

You're already directly affecting the Screen with your feedback - it's awesome to be able to work with you all in such a personal way, and that's going to continue. We really do want the Wyrmwood Magnetic Game Master Screen to be the ultimate GM tool, and we're going to be listening and responding to you to make that happen.

Thank you, as always, for your support and trust. We're honored to be at your table, and we can't wait to hear what you're going to do with your Screen. We know you've got some creative plans already - if you want to share them, please do so in the comments on the campaign page!
