July Production Update, Fulfillment News, and GEN CON 50!
almost 7 years ago – Fri, Jul 07, 2017 at 02:09:30 PM

Hello backers!

How does the summer find you? It finds those of us here in the Wyrmwood shop hard at work, preparing for fulfillment!

So, first, the big question - are we still on track? The answer to that is yes - but with an unfortunate qualification.

Production is proceeding very well, but we've hit a small snag sourcing some materials. We've got a solution, but unfortunately it will slow things down. It affects a minority of backers, and the delay will only impact those in the July fulfillment group, so we'll message you individually if you're affected.

Otherwise, production is moving smoothly and we're gearing up for fulfillment, full speed ahead! We expect to begin shipping the early bird rewards near the end of the month, in about 2-3 weeks. We'll keep you posted, naturally, should anything change.

In other news, we're finalizing preparations for Gen Con 50 next month, as well. We'll certainly have the Screen on display in our newly redesigned booth. It will be available for pre-order, for those that weren't fortunate enough to join you in the campaign. But that's not all - this may just be our most exciting convention appearance ever, and we hope you'll join us to check out everything we've got in store.

What's being made in there? Come to Gen Con 50 and find out!

We hope you're enjoying the warm weather, and we can't wait to see what you do with your Screens once they arrive - so, once you get some time with them, be sure to send us lots of pictures and write-ups about how exactly you're putting your new tools to use. You can talk about it here, or, even better, post to our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/wyrmwoodgaming

Thank you all for your support and patience, and we'll see you soon!

Production Update & Convention News
almost 7 years ago – Fri, May 19, 2017 at 09:42:34 PM

Hello, everyone!

It's beginning to feel like summer here in our neck of the New England woods, and the transition marks a great time for an update! We've had our collective noses to the grindstone (or sanding belt, as the case may be):

We thought we'd share a few photos of the current work. It's always exciting seeing new products come to life and enter serious production.

At this point, we're focusing fire on the Two Way Towers, before moving on to the other components - those are being planned out so we can begin full-scale production, and we should be able to move very quickly once that begins. Nearly all of our needed materials, with the exception of the acrylic inserts, are in hand (and those are in transit now). In short, everything is proceeding according to plan for the current timeline, so we have no news to report on that front. :)

 Summer Convention Season: Straight Ahead

Some of the biggest conventions of the year take place in the summer, and we kick off the season officially next weekend! A brand new event is starting this year in our home state of Massachusetts. Anyone in the greater Springfield area, be sure to check out Popkon, taking place as part of the K-Fest event in the Eastern States Exposition Center in West Springfield, next Saturday and Sunday, the 27th-28th.

After that, we hit the road for Origins Game Fair, June 14th-18th in Columbus, OH.

Then it's just a hop, skip and jump until Gen Con 50 - but we'll save that for another update! Are you going to be attending any conventions this summer? Which are you looking forward to the most? What's your favorite part of the event? Let us know in the comments!

Until next time!

BackerKit: Credit Card Processing Tomorrow, April 3rd
about 7 years ago – Sun, Apr 02, 2017 at 04:07:50 PM

Hi everyone!

Hopefully you're all enjoying your weekend! This is just a quick update to let you know the status of BackerKit and remind you that we'll be running charges beginning  tomorrow.

As it stands, the vast majority of pledges are locked down, as we indicated would happen Friday. We will begin processing charges on locked down orders tomorrow, April 3rd. Those of you that have contacted us about holding off, your pledges remain unlocked for now. Please let us know as soon as you're ready, so we can finalize all orders.

To that end, there are still a sizable number of backers that have not yet responded to the survey. At this point, we need to remind you: If you have not completed your BackerKit, you are likely to experience a delay in fulfillment of your order! Please fill it out as soon as possible to avoid this, and get in touch to let us know when you're all set. If you have not received a survey invitation or don't remember filling it out, reach out to us and we'll help you get it done.

The process seems to have gone smoothly for most, but of course we're always here if anyone needs help or has a question.

This will mark the completion of this phase of the project - receiving orders and finalizing numbers. With that done, we can move forward into production... and then, all that remains is your favorite part: fulfillment! Exciting times ahead. :)

As always, thank you all for your support.

BackerKit Lockdown TOMORROW NIGHT - IMPORTANT Information Inside
about 7 years ago – Thu, Mar 30, 2017 at 07:13:07 PM

Hello everyone!

It looks like the vast majority of you have filled out your surveys, which is great. There are still some of you that have not, however, so please do so as soon as possible.

If you're having difficulty, haven't received an invitation email, etc., please reach out to us directly and we'll get you taken care of.

With lockdown coming fast, we wanted to give you a few last minute notes.

BackerKit Lockdown & Payment

As noted, BackerKit will be locked down late tomorrow night, March 31st. This means that at this time, your order will be locked from further editing. Payment methods entered in BackerKit will be summarily charged beginning Monday, April 3rd.

If for some reason this won't work for you - we can work with you. If you let us know over the weekend, we'll be sure to unlock your pledge and hold off charging payment. If this includes you, please drop us a line about it between now and Monday, if at all possible.

Note that we do need to get most pledges locked down to lock in accurate production numbers and get orders squared away, so if you are going to need us to keep your pledge open, do let us know the time period you'll need.

Thank you for your help!

Natural Materials & Character

Wood is, of course, a natural material. We are believers in the beauty of natural materials, which is why we avoid using stains and dyes, as a rule. It also means that some of our pieces will contain natural variations that we refer to as character. This can sometimes consist of knots, unusual coloration, streaks and sections of lighter/darker wood, figure such as flame/tiger striping, birdseye, etc. Here are a few examples, from a run in progress, in Black Walnut:

Some Black Walnut Two Way Dice Towers with Character

Going from left to right:

Tower 1: Color variation on the face.

Tower 2: Some pale coloration on the ramp, large knot on the side, some figure on the upper right.

Tower 3: . Knot on the face

Tower 4: Knot on the side, figure on the lower right

Tower 5: Some light voids running down the right side

Tower 6:  Large knot on the right side, smaller knot and small void on the face

These are out of the ordinary, and as such, we find most clients love such pieces, and view the character as what makes their piece truly unique. But we recognize not everyone feels that way. If you have a strong preference regarding whether or not your pieces feature character, please let us know on the survey on the "anything we should know" question, and we will do our very best to accommodate you.

We do apologize for the late notice on this one! But we should point out there's no real risk, and you won't end up with something you don't love - if you do, remember you're always covered by our Craftsman's Promise.

Initiative Tokens

We've been looking into ways to source additional metals for the initiative tracker, and have, unfortunately, been unable to find a reliable source at this time. While we aren't closing the door on this option, it will have to be something that comes down the line, and is outside the scope of the campaign or BackerKit, regrettably. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If this is very important to you, you can reach out to us directly and we can see what we can do as a custom option, of course, but we'll have to price this out on an individual basis, and are unable to offer it as a standard choice at this time.

There are many moving parts in this campaign, and we couldn't make this part come together reliably, and we don't want to offer anything we aren't sure we can deliver, so these will need to come down the line - perhaps alongside the Deluxe Initiative Tracker once development is completed? Thank you for your understanding.

Custom Battlefoam Requests

We've been talking with several backers that needed a case solution outside the scope of the PACK 720 featured in our campaign. One of the reasons we were excited to work with Battlefoam on this project is that they understand that one-size-fits-all solutions often leave much to be desired; they build their cases with the ability to accept add-on modules, and even attach to other cases!

The 720 will be available from us at the discounted Kickstarter rate in BackerKit, but if that isn't sufficient for you, your best bet is to get in touch with them directly, and they'll direct you to the best option for your load-out. You can do so via email, at [email protected], or by phone, at 1-877-336-3626. You can tell them you're starting with the 720 offered in the Wyrmwood Kickstarter, describe your needs, and they'll steer you towards the add-ons or expansions you need, and help you get it from them direct.

Added information: the custom inserts Battlefoam has provided measure 2" thick for a Panel, and 6" thick for the Chest of Holding/Two Way Tower insert. That measurement includes the "topper" piece, as well. This will help you and the Battlefoam staff determine the best fit.

That should do it. We'll be posting a brief update post-lockdown, then proceeding to charge orders and get all the numbers together.

As always, thank you very much for your overwhelming support of our work and our mission. Each and every one of the talented craftsmen here are grateful for it, and we're honored by your trust and patronage.

Some Production Images, Special Requests & BackerKit Lockdown
about 7 years ago – Fri, Mar 24, 2017 at 11:43:37 PM

Hello everyone! We're getting started with the initial runs, and diving right in to start with some Cherry Two Way Dice Towers:

There are many more to come, of course! We'll share images in updates as we progress through fulfillment.

BackerKit Lockdown

We just wanted to let you know that BackerKit will be locked down at the end of the month: Friday, March 31st. This will allow us ample time to analyze all the numbers, order materials, and get production scheduled so we can start delivery in a few months.

What does this mean? It means that, after that date, BackerKit orders will be locked from further editing, with the exception of your shipping information. For all intents and purposes, orders will be final at this time.

This may be earlier than anticipated, and if this deadline poses a problem for you for any reason, just reach out and let us know, and we will work with you. We are certainly able to make exceptions for those that need extra time for one reason or another. But for the vast majority of backers who have already completed their surveys, you'll be able to begin what may be the most difficult part of the process... waiting for your Screen to arrive!

After surveys are locked down, we'll begin running the charges for those of you adding payment in BackerKit. This will begin on Monday, April 3rd. Again, if this date is an issue for any reason, just let us know. If there's an issue with your payment, BackerKit will notify you via email so you can correct it.

Special Requests

Numerous backers have reached out with special requests at various points throughout the campaign. A few examples of special requests:

  • A Screen made from woods not available in the campaign
  • An Initiative Tracker without tokens, or other modification to a component
  • An engraving
  • An adjustment to shipping due to an unusual order, such as one not including Panels, or including different woods for the Chest of Holding and its drawers
  • Requests concerning the PACK 720 and Battlefoam inserts

Someone asked the best way to handle these requests, and we felt it was worth mentioning here as well. So, if you have a request, or need a quote, here's how to go about it.

1) Contact us via Kickstarter with the request. This is essential, and is the only way we will become aware of your request - simply mentioning it via the BackerKit survey is not sufficient, as that won't be seen until fulfillment. We may still be able to do what you ask, but your order will almost certainly be delayed as a result.

2) We'll confirm your request, give you the relevant pricing information if it's something we can do, and proceed to adjust your pledge credit manually. This may entail a bit of messaging back and forth if we need you to accept a quote or if you're asking for a range of options.

3) You will receive confirmation from us that we have made the adjustments to your pledge. At this point, you should revisit the survey and complete it, making sure of two things: first, that you've entered all the details into the question asking about "special requests," and second, that the order pricing is correct and up to date, and everything looks as it should.

That's it! All you need to do is reach out to us, and we'll walk you through the rest. Note that we can't guarantee we'll be able to make every request work, but we will certainly do our very best. But the sooner you reach out, the sooner we can let you know.

That about wraps it up for this one.

Until next time!
